More Than 30 Years in the Field
I've spent more than 30 years metal detecting, from public parks to historic properties. Along the way, I've recovered old coins, relics, and gold jewelry, had discoveries featured in books and magazines, and had opportunities to work alongside archaeologists and museum professionals.
This website is where I share those experiences, some of my favorite finds, and the things I've learned along the way.
About Ed
Meet Ed Huffman
“The detector matters.
But the detectorist
matters more.”
I've spent more than 30 years metal detecting in parks, on beaches, around old homes, and at historic properties. My finds have included old silver coins, colonial-era copper coins, Civil War and Revolutionary War relics, silver and gold jewelry.
Some of my discoveries have been featured in books and magazines, and I've had opportunities to work alongside archaeologists and museum professionals. Those experiences are part of what I share here, along with the finds themselves.
As the former owner of Treasure Mountain Detectors and current Sales Director at History Seekers Metal Detectors, I've spent years helping people choose and learn their machines. Helping someone understand a detector and build confidence in the field has been just as rewarding as making a good find.
Expect practical instruction, honest answers, and knowledge drawn from time in the field.

Discoveries in print.

02 / Preservation
A connection to history.
The objects we recover are only part of the story. I've had opportunities to work alongside archaeologists and museum professionals, learning from the knowledge and care they bring to understanding the past.
Those experiences are part of what I share here, alongside the finds themselves.

03 / Recognition

Recognition along the way.
My years in metal detecting have brought recognition for both the finds and the work I did helping people through Treasure Mountain Detectors.
